Who uses Selcon?

I recently ordered some Selcon. Now I am wondering how often and how much I should feed. The bottle does give directions, but I want to get some opinions before I risk polluting my tank. What are your thoughts on using Selcon? If you do use Selcon, how long do you let the food soak in it?

Selcon is a must in my opinion, or a simlar product that does the same thing. I soak all my frozen food in selcon for 10-30 minutes before feeding it daily.

Yep ,i agree..I use vita-chem though ..i add a few drops to pellet food and let them soak it up

When you guys soak food in it, do you just broadcast feed the excess Selcon to the tank, or do you only use the food?

Yes thats what I do. I rinse my fro-food in ro/di water and drain it really good then I soak it with selcon for 30 minutes to an hour (I'm usually doing some kind of maintenance while its soaking) then I just dump it all in excess selcon and all. Been doing it this way for as long as I can remember.

when I feed mysis I add .5ml to two days worth of food.
I only feed the mysis 2 days a week since it's more time consuming than my dry food mixes.

So, If the fish go without 'wetfood' then I just squirt in .5ml in to the water at night once or twice a week.

It just goes so fast!!! $10 from DRSfoster for the small one (60ml), but that lasts 1-2 months max if I use it only 3x a week.

The big container (~480ml) is pretty exp. at 100$ ( though, I am not sure why sellers would price a 480-500ml bottle at $100 when you could just buy 8 60ml bottles and save $20 since drsfoster has free shipping)

Bumping this one...

We have used selcon on all our tanks since maybe 6 years ago. We are using it in our 210 sps reef, about 2 droops per cube of food (lots of variety). First we rinse the food, then press it and put it in a cup. Then break it up and mix it into the selcon, letting it sit for 15 to 30 min. We broadcast feed it in high flow. I have seen sps filiments cover the coral just after feeding.

I am wondering if there are a lot of phosphates in selcon?
