OMG, I just had to post this! We just got a tip that a certain Flickr member called 'ecospy' has posted a pic of what seems to be a new VorTech pump, with a black controller!

Is this the new VorTech QuietDrive?! Recently there was news that EcoTech Marine registered the 'QUIETDRIVE' trademark. Several days back, they slashed the price of the VorTech MP40 by $100. If this is legit, we speculate that ETM will formally launch it at the ************ ReefStock event on February 21-22, 2015.

We will try to get more info but for the mean time, feel free to grab the pic and spread it around ASAP. If this is indeed a 'spygate' (which might well be, with a Flickr username of 'ecospy' lol), the pic might get removed and we might get a take down notice from ETM.

Do you think it is real? Anyone been to ETM and verify if they have similar desks there? Are those Radion fans at the side? Let's hear your thoughts! There are two ways to join the conversation.

It looks to me like it is the same form factor as the mp10/40/60... so is it just supposed to be quieter?

It's a solid state dry side, meaning it uses electromagnetic current to turn the magnet on the wet side vs a turning magnet on the dry side.

I've been anticipating this for awhile, that's why I didn't jump on getting these pumps when the price dropped

That sounds cool I guess... so it'll be an upgraded version of the original pumps. I think I still want to try a gyre in my tank rather than these new pumps. I was happier with 3 mp40's than I am with my 3 tunze 6105's though.

I'm going to try to talk my wife into letting me upgrade my tank and if I do that then I may go with a couple of these new solid state pumps.

Meh, I think I will be sticking with my gyre for awhile. The real test will be how these preform long-term.

Well they have had the technology for two years now so I would assume they have there ducks in a row. Eecotech wouldn't bring a questionable product to the market like maxspect did

I heard EcoTech has patient on new tech for new pumps too.

Cory, I'm not longer interested in buy your mp40 for sale. but need to borrow a little longer. LOL

Can you be more specific? I haven't heard anything about it.

I believe its to early to tell if they will be reliable or not. I've had mine for a few months and its still performing like the first day. I do supplement mine with 1 wp25 though.

My x150 broke within 1 month and I was only trying to run it at around 40%. When I complained they said you need to it run at 60% or higher for break-in period....wat? I sent it back...

A month later here I am getting an x130, and it's amazing so far (2days). I only run it at 50%, can't hear it, and it's a great supplement for my mp40s.

Well they're already redesigned the mount to try and quite it. The new mount ships now and there will be a replacement program for Beta Testers, oops, I meant early adopters :hammer:
