Everytime I buy an anemone it dies on me within a couple days. My water is fine and I have strong enough lights. Why wont they live? Are there any certain types anyone would suggest that may be hardier than others?

also what kind of nems are you trying, what color do they appear, do they feel sticky, is the mouth open or tight, and how are you acclimating?

all of my parameters are perfect. and Im running 400 W halides.

I have a 120 with a blue hippo, three bangii cards, blue damsel and a false perc. Its been running for about a year. the anemone is usually fine for a day or two then shrivels up and lets go of the rock and floats around.

Ive been tryin to keep the pink tip hatian only because i dont want to spend the big bucks on something thats gonna die like the others. It is sticky at first then just shriveld and slimy its mouth is tight when purchased then loosens after two or three days and im drip acclimating

how long does it take for you to get them home from the lfs or if online how long does shipping take ?perhaps you might want to read the thread on gavage feeding sick anenomes
or check out www.wetwebmedia.com and read up on care and requirments, as it sounds to me like they are not dead when you think they are floating nems does not neccesarily mean it is dead !!!!

In addition to knowing your water parameters. You need to know the species you are buying, give us some details about the apperance of the anemones and discuss how you acclimate the anemone to your lights. 400 watts is pretty intense can can cause oxidative stress to an organism that is not acclimated to it.
