why does the bird nest kept having brown or red algae growing on the tip ?

any idea?

is it due to high po4 or due to too high flow as i am using Vortech mp60w ?

What is youre ALK and do you dose a carbon source.. if you have either of these then oppotunistic algaes and bacteria will colonize the exposed skeleton. HTH
 
probably both..

the high flow probably made the flesh recede and then the PO4 made the algae bloom..
 
my po4 is 0.04 and i am running zeovit . ALK is 7.7

How are you measuring the phosphate? IMO it is probably a combination of direct flow onto the coral concerned, and nutrients being present in the water.

What is your nitrates at?
