Why no bubbles on my RBTA?

What causes an RBTA to have or not have bubbles?

When I picked up this RBTA from someone who was breaking down his tank, it had bubbles like all 5 other clones from his original anemone. After a day in my tank, no bubbles.

Now, two months later it is growing, looks great, hosts an ocellaris, and has inch and a half long tentacles with no bubbles.

It is beautiful as is, but why no bubbles?

Mine are the same way. When i first got it, it was the size of a half dollar but had bubble tips. Eventually as it grew and split many times it no longer has any bubble tips. I now have twelve btas after many splits. I did notice after i stopped feeding for over a year some bubble tips returned. I assume to gather more light since they were not being fed.

I don't think anyone knows why exactly they have/don't have bubbles.

my GBTA's never had bubbles - in my tank or the previous owners tank. But they are happy and healthy.

I think in alot of cases this is the problem. A friend of mine that propagates BTA's says they bubble up when stressed. Maybe your bubble's have it too easy?

No one knows why they do or don't have bubbles. I spent about a year trying to find an answer and still don't have a clue.

It's nothing to worry about though since it's not an indicator of health. Even in the wild, most BTAs won't have bubbles most of the time.

Sorry guys, didn't see much of an explanation when I read the FAQ.

Try feeding it. Mine is long and stringy when hungry. After feeding, they are big and bulby.
