Why Reef Savvy Over Miracles?

What kind of money are we talking about when it comes to a Reef Savvy Aquarium? I know it depends on certain variables like size or complexity of the build but for a standard 120 gallon tank, how much (ballpark figure) would one go for?

OR

Those that have RS tanks, if you guys are comfortable, how much approx did you pay for them?

I have asked this question before and never really got an answer, I'd be interested to hear as well... If I recall correctly the response I got was something along the line "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" Lol

They can't be that much brand new. I've spent the last 20 minutes Googling RS tank prices and I came up with a bunch of used ones (90g-120g)in great condition for well under 2k.

Still curious what they go for new. I may just have to contact the company if I don't get any answers here. Their tanks look really sharp.

Ballpark for me will be 5..... Dimensions will be 84 by 28 by 24 high (almost 250g).
That will be front and sides and upper bracing in starphire, armored seams, and regular non phantom bottom with two ghost overflows, 3/4 inch glass. Armor is 2 dollars per linear inch. Ghosts are 250 per. Six holes along back wall for various returns and two in the top bracing to run gyre cords through at 25 per hole. Ghost bulkhead holes were included. Phantom would have added 45 per s ft. Don't know what it would have been in regular glass and didn't want to know since it would have been potential make-me-think restraint lol. That is not delivered, just tank.

Miracles would have been about 2k less, with holes drilled for ghost to be installed but no boxes.

Sounds awesome Kengar! Hopefully you do a build thread that we can all follow. If not, good luck, I'm sure its gonna be an amazing tank.

And here is the awesome part. I'm going to stock it with nothing but two or three blue damsels and some of that awesome aptasia rock for some nice motion

A quote I received a two years ago.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The aquarium you're inquiring about is approximately 150 gallons and will be built out of 1/2" glass with a high polish and beveled edges. The price is $2,150.00. This includes the front panel low iron, and Ghost overflow. If we were to make this aquarium rimless with all of the same specs it will be built out of 3/4" glass and the price is $2,600.00.

Thats a good plan, if your a fan of motion I can get you some really nice green hair algae "coral" covered rocks... Damsels won't harm it and it's really easy to grow.... I'll make you a deal $60 for a 3 inch piece (your practically stealing at that price) :lmao:

Maybe I need to start a new thread, Surreal or Dreambox. . . . .

Actually, sump will be in fish room on opposite side of wall from tank, and stand will be enclosed wood, so no need for high end pretty like surreal. Might -- MIGHT -- do db, since after you put all the stuff together a la carte you run up the costs anyway, though likely just a Rubbermaid trough with assemblage pieced together

lol...

Seems like their prices aren't out of reach after all. $2600 for a rimless, reef ready seems reasonable given the quality and craftsmanship that they seem to be putting out.

For a comparison, my 200g from Planet ordered through my lfs cost me $2k. 72x24x24 with 1/2 inch glass, front starphire, eurobraced with inset for screen top, no overflow (had that made local), and hybrid bottom (3 different materials).

So RS is more but doesn't sound unreasonably so for the additional features and craftsmanship.

I've been getting quotes from the usual suspects for a 225g 72x30x24. 3/4" glass. The quotes include starphire front/sides, eurobracing, single overflow and holes for drain, return and CL.

Reef Savvy: $5952
Coast to coast: $4900
Miracles: $3300

I also checked with Planet who said they were short handed and not interested. Must be tough to turn away business.

Given the reviews for all three companies in these forums I don't know why I would pay $1600 or $2600 more from one of the others. I did also look at prices from Glasscages and Greatlakes. While their prices are significantly less, they can't customize it the way I want and wouldn't include a feature like eurobracing.

your views are understood. however, even though in most cases the mfr took care of problem fairly quickly, there were a few threads here and elsewhere where each of the other mfrs besides RS delivered something with less-than-satisfactory seams/chip/crack and/or where overflow box pulled away from back wall. although those may have been instances in the past and problems have been resolved, I have not seen anything similar with respect to RS. I don't want to have any problems, so I chose RS.

Hmmm. Ive got a custom Glasscage tank with euro brace.

So happy with my tank as its been flawless. I was nervous after doing a lot of research but it seemed like most bad stories are just parrotted around the internet with little facts behind them.

Eurobrace with starphire panes and an external overflow?
