the anemoon stands in an resonable strong flow is that maybe the problem ?
anemmon seems to like it , it give`s also a dynamic view to it.

Thats appears to be heteractis magnifica, although I confess that w/o seeing the body close up the tentacles kind of look like a torch coral. If its a mag get ready for a difficult journey.

What clowns do you have? Occelaris and Percs normally go to mags immediately.

To me, it looks more like a torch coral, but I could be wrong. I have only seen them in other peoples tanks, and pictures.

Trying doing a google search for "torch coral" and then click on images.

Just curious, what does the base look like, is it hard or soft. Torch coral has a hard skeleton.

assuming you know the difference between an LPS and an anemone sometimes it take a while for clowns to start hosting an anemone... I would just give it a little bit and be patient.

I can't tell ya if it's a Torch coral or an anemone.

But, I have a Bulb and a Condy anemone for my Ocellaris pair, but instead they like to "host" my flame Zoas.

But good luck.

thx guys:) for the reply`s ,

-actualy the anermone is split in 5 different bases.
at the base you have a calcious tubelar body that is approx.
3/8 "in diameter and 1" tall.

-the clowns still won`t host the anamone :( .
i think , because the fish are already 1 month in the tank the lawnmower blenny and my ocellarises has already pointed out there terretoria .
and i think i put the anemone to close in the terretorium of the lawnmower blenny (is dominant).
it`s a pitty that i already fixed the anemone with epoxy to the
LR , else i could relocate it in the display.

From the description that you just gave, it for sure isn't an anemone -- they do not have a calcium base. And now I really think it is a Torch coral.

thx toddrtex,

it ist`n an anemone then !
but is it still a good coral for clowns to host ?
i hope they eventually (the clowns) will host the coral then.

The choice to host something is all up to the clowns, I personally have had clowns that would rather host my heater in my old tank then a RBTA.

As for them hosting a torch coral, it is possible that they will, but it is all possible if they are rough on it that they can kill it, just be aware that anytime you clowns that host lps, can lead to the demise of the coral over time if they get to rough.

thx guys:)

i thought they always hosted anemone `s(or coral) if one is
availible.

what is the average time that a clown needs to host a newly
introduced anemone ?

greetingzz tntneon:)

The anemone hosts the clowns, the clowns don't host the anemone.

The amount of time it takes clowns to jump into an anemone varies. Maroons will jump into a Bubble tip pretty much immediately most of the time. Ocellaris take to carpets quickly as well.

It all depends on what is natural to them. I think there is a link on the front of the clownfish and anemone forum with what anemone hosts which clownfish in the wild.

Ocellaris and Perculas will generally host in a Bubble Tip, but it can take them time. Sometimes they will dive right in and other times it can take months, years, or sometimes they won't go in. It really depends on the clowns.

thx nirvanafan ,

is just what i wanted to know.
it seems that the clowns once in a while check the tortch coral togheter , but still keeping a few inches before they go back to
there normal hangouts.

You could move it closer to their normal hangout. Best to do this anyway I think because I have read that clowns will sometimes bite at corals to try to get them to move where they want them, not knowing an LPS can't move. So if they were to bond with the coral they would likely harm it trying to move it. I have a Percula and an Elegance coral. I put the Elegance in where the percula liked to hang out and he took to it within about 5 days. He still doesn't spend all his time in there but stays in the tentacles about 50-70% of the time.
