Wide angle lens advice?

Hi,

I have a G2 Pro over a 34x17x17 tank.

The water line is about 1.5 inches below the top of the glass, and the light is hung 14 inches above the water line.

In general, I am satisfied, but I do have more shadowing than I would like. Corals mounted on the primary viewing side look less than optimal because they shade themselves on the side you see the best.

I currently run a modified Radiant program at 45%. I am planning on ramping up to about 60% because a few corals are "greening out" (pink lemonade is a bright vibrant green now instead of yellow, which I believe is a result of less than optimal PAR.)

Should I get the wide angles to reduce this shadowing? Will they? If I do, what should I increase the intensity to from 45%?

Thanks!

I have 3 g2's 9" over water line over 60" X 24 SPS only tank, changed to the wide angle lens' about 6 month ago. They work great reducing shadowing and blending light. I have been running 55% max, radiant color template but added 1.5 hour 12K @ 65% at middle of day. My corals improved after I changed the lenses and no more bleaching. Also i can put corals directly under center of lights without roasting them. My advice is get the lens' bump up to 55% after lens install and add the 12K midday. I started with 30 min 12K and added 30 min each week until 1.5 hours. Hope this helps.

Thanks much for the detailed response. I'm glad these are cheap enough that I can take a flier on them (unlike most Ecotech products.)

If this mostly solves my shading issue, that would be grand. I really don't want to shell for another light.
