We bought a yellow jawfish from SOM in March or April. Put in the tank, saw it like once then it just disappeared. I was bummed but it happens, it was small so I didn't really think about trying to find the body. Fast forward like 6 or 7 months to Sunday, there it is in little hiding spot right in the front of the tank like he owns the place. He was there again last night and this morning.

I lost a yellow tang in my sump for many months. I think I see my mandarins once a week at most.

I had the same thing with a Blenny getting in the over flow. Lost him for about 2 months, then realized where he was. Caught him and put him in the main tank, and he died the next day.

I've got a Blue Coral Banded Shrimp that sometimes disappears for months at a time. Tough little bugger has survived through many hard times.

I bought a jawfish from SOM about that same time:D Mine did the same thing but he only disappeared for about a week.

My yellow watchman goby was the only fish that my wife was like "Where did he come from?" and I had had him for nearly a year... SOmetimes they will take a rear facing hiding spot while they are acclimating to your tank and its inhabitants. Just like anemones...

yeah i had an RBTA hide in the sump for about 2 weeks with no light then, I pulled him out, put him in the display and he looked a million times better then he ever had in my tank before....
