Out front of my house in American Samoa. When retracted it looks like a bleached bta but not sure. Thoughts?

Any advice on collecting? There are many, many smaller ones attached to rocks in the rubble below the colony but the bigger ones are in reef crevices. Think the colours will change under led (ai hydra) lighting?

If I live there, I would break a chunk of reef with the anemone on it and put it into my tank. You can try to remove him but I don't think it will be easy.

They might develop color who knows. Will be fun finding out in your tank, won't it!

Besides, the price was right

There are quite a few all over this small area so will see what I can do. Ty.

Ahaha, true that! The pink in the tips makes me wonder if it might redden up but we will see.

I think this is a fairly common color. It may develop more color under LED or other artificial light.

As for collecting, why don't you just collect some of the smaller ones on the rubble rocks, they will grow by themselves, especially if you can do lots of water changes, provide good light and feed them well.
The other option would be to coerce them to move on something you can take out.

BTW, are there any clownfish?

Yes, maybe some smaller ones. The clowns here are red & blacks, Amphiprion melanopus, and a bit large so I was hoping for a bigger anemone to prevent death by affection. There are some clown colonies with smaller males and juvs on the other side of the island so maybe I can hit one of those for smaller fish. We also have Amphiprion perideraion in the long tentacle anemones.

Yes, I will. I visited the area a few times this week and have fed a couple of the nicer looking ones. It seems the ones located lower on the rockwork do not have any of the white in them and appear healthier. Planning an operation this weekend on a low tide.
