So I have a really large acropora (staghorn 11"). I actually had him growing into my Liverock so it has a very thick layer growing over the LR. The top was free to grow up. After moving him I noticed that it's almost lightening up at the base (where light don't reach the polyps). The branchs that where growing out had white growth tips but not the base.
Today, I moved the acropora in a place of higher flow & light. How long do I wait before cutting him up (assuming I have too)? I really want to avoid doing this but if I see the underside base (die off), will the top survive?
If it's not bleaching and spreading leave it? - this is what I was going by but tell me if I should do something else. It's almost impossible to give the entire colonie a good amount of light after it's that large and overshadowing and growing into LR. For instance, my tabling acropora is about 7'' and its base get zero light penetration. So the underside is just dead and lighter in color. Sometimes It appears to be white.:uhoh3:
