Will condy's eat live shrimp(peppermint)?

I have a 30g with a small/medium sized condy. I rescued it and i am bringing it back to health. The owner kinda just neglected the tank over time, hardly had the light on (no timer..), he works all day and would just forget about the tank! But this condy has been through hell, hasn't been fed meaty foods i bet in over a month, probably more. The heater had been off, water felt ice cold, probably 50s, waterline was at 60% full. So i snatched up his live rock, damsel and condy. Doing well now. I love my peppermint shrimp, is he at risk with the condy around? I would think he would stay away or be able to swim away from it if it was in any danger.

I feed the condy chunks of shrimp, does this answer my question? lol.. I have faith in the shrimp being fine but I really need him so if he is at any risk, ill just get rid of the condy for some LFS credit. I dont have bright lights anyway, which is what they probably want.

What kind of lights are you running? If its anything less than PCs I would return your Condy to the lfs. First though keep feeding to allow it to gain some more energy.

If you do decide to keep the condy I don't think your peppermint shrimp is trouble. Those guys are pretty much immune to the anemones stings. Some shrimp actually go into the anemone and open their mouth and grab their food out. I wouldn't worry about your shrimp.

I have a peppermint and coral banded with my 14 inch H. Cripsa and no casualities yet.

I'm sorry 55semireef but H.Crispa and Condi are very different animals. If the Condi is ill the shrimp have a chance. If the Condi is healthy the shrimp is in very serious trouble. Condi's have a very strong grip and will eat anything that comes into contact with it. I wouldn't put any shrimp or fish into a tank with a condi that I wanted to keep.

Condy can get very large and usually live shallow. If the ship was unlucky and bumped him I am sure he would eat it. My peppermint and damsel were gone thr first day I put in my gigantea.

Actually they moreless the same animal, they just have different characteristics about them and they come from a different ocean. ;) I get your point though. I could have been more specific with my explanation.

tangyreefer05, Elegance Coral in general stands correct however we are talking about a Condy that was just rescued which does not currently have the potential to capture and kill a shrimp. For now you are fine but if you do decide to keep the Condy long term, I would be cautious for your peppermint's sake.
