Will dosing the 2 part lead to unhealthy Cloride levels?

I have been dosing the 2 part for 2 months now. I talked to someone who has been doing the same and they said they had stopped because their LFS (not a good source) said it would lead to a system crash because of high Clorides. He then talked to a cousin of his that is very knowledgable and has written several reef books and he said the same thing. Is this really something to worry about?

Which two-part are you dosing? Are you doing any water changes at all?

In general, that's not true in my experience. I have a small tank that has been dosed with B-Ionic for years without problems. I do some water changes, though.

The original DIY two-part doesn't particularly lead to high chloride concentration. The article goes into details. If you're doing a few water changes and use the solutions properly, you should be fine indefinitely. The newer DIY formula requires fewer water changes and fussing, but either can work nicely. I do enough water changes for other reasons that the ionic shift from a 2-part is down in the noise.

I have been dosing randys two part aswell from what he says its safe.If you look at most supplimens ( calcium and alk supplements) that you but they contain the same types of ingredents

In fact, my original recipe actually lowers chloride relative to sulfate. The improved recipe (second link above) keeps it exactly stable.
