Will gobies go into hiding?

Have had a yasha and pistol for about two months. The yasha in the past month would be hanging out of his burrow all the time. Past couple of days i have barely seen him other than poking his head out of his burrow. No new additions to the tank and water parameters are in check and all other inhabitants look and act good.

Ah crap i did add a pompom crab about a week and a half ago could that be the problem? Although the pompom usually hangs out on the other side of the tank when i see him.

I wouldn't worry too much. The shrimp digs a lot at first, so the pair will spend a lot of time outside in the beginning. However, they do like their burrows. And the gobies tend to take on a real protector role. I see mine come fully out 1-2x per day, but not a lot. He usually just hang by the entrance to the burrow or stays inside playing poker with the shrimp. :) As long as he'll poke his nose out at feeding time, and his color looks okay, I wouldn't worry.

Long story short, +1 on the normal behavior

I have a randalls watchman and a red banded pistol, sometimes I dont see them for a while either if they are digging around in a new location, etc
