hey guys im going on vacation for 2 days, and im wondering if my tank will be ok with out food for 2 days? if it wont be I dont relly want to shell out 40$ for a automatic feeder I saw these pyrimid feeder things for 4$ do they work? there is 5 fish in the tank its a 40 gallon. I plan on doing my first water change when I get back do I just make the sault water, sython the old out put the new in or is it more complicated?

Thanks Alot,

Zakk

yes the pyramid will work but depends on how many fish u have.. I usually put a piece of raw shrimp in the tank and let them eat it up. Last for 3 days I think if u have 5 fish. Then when u get home just do a 25% water change and u'll be fine... ( turn ur skimmer on maximum)... If I'm wrong please correct me

theyll be fine for a couple days without food it should be no worries.
+1

And again. ;) No problems. Fish are often foodless for 2 WEEKS during capture, transport, distribution, re-distribution, according to my lfs owner who is also a longtime reefer.

thanks for the reples my lights are running on a timer 10 to 11 should i keep the lights on the timer or should I keep them off.

I leave town often for a day or so without a second thought about feeding the fish. Regarding the lights, if youre confident about the timer, I'd leave them alone. If there's a likely risk that they'll stick on, you may consider leaving them off.

I wouldnt change anything. Your tank will be fine for a couple days. You risk more problems by changing things than you do by just leaving it alone.

If you have time before you go then feed a little extra the 2 or 3 days before you leave. Dont overfeed! Just a little extra to fatten them up . If you dont have time its still ok.
