Will RBTA survivewithout a mouth?

My RBTA did a 3-way split and the smallest one got mutilated in an overflow screen. Looked like a spoon full of snot when I pulled it out, but in a few days was healing nicely. Within a week it looked like a perfectly dandy 4" BTA but had no mouth.

Now, a month later, it looks fine, but still no mouth.

Will it eventually grow one?

I believe they can survive without food, but do they need a mouth to excrete?

I know nems that dont have mouths dont do well... but it will be interesting to see if this is the case. I would guess will slowly wither away.

did you recently cut it, or did it split? If so, my vote is it will grow a mouth and survive. I have a cut RBTA and it took almost 3 weeks for it mouth to reform. It's mouth is on the very edge right now, not in the middle.....

The mouth will come. Give her time. I have had mouths grow from chunks of the body that have been ripped off.

About the 7 th week a mouth formed at edge, quickly moved to the center and the anemone was fine. By that time it had nearly doubled in size. Sold it to another reefer and squandered the money on fish food!
