Will this hammer ever recover?

i recently bought a frag of this hammer coral which wasn't doing too well at the LFS but got it anyways cause the color is just amazing. as you can see, the tissue is missing in two areas (center and left). my question is: will the tissue/tentacles ever come back in these areas, or is the damage permanent?

Others suggest it is heavily bleached, however, I did specifically ask about this before buying; the LFS told me they sometimes get these translucent hammers from Indonesia/Vietnam which apparently is how they are and remain for life. Can anyone please comment...

As long as there is tissue still in the skeleton it will usually come back. I'm not sure about the center head... that one might be gone.

Transluscence is usually bleaching... I don't think I've ever seen any Euphyllia that is 'supposed' to look like that.

Its possible for it to make a comeback with good water quality. In my opinion your LFS is full of it. There are no translucent hammers. Its partially bleached. Just try to keep your water as stable as possible.

I think your LFS made a good sales pitch.

Mine looked solid and now has bleached to look like that, it's not normal.

There are clear or translucent euphyllia, you just never see them in stores. I have seen pictures in books with completely transparent tissue with colored tips. Perhaps these corals have a poor chance of survival in captivity? Or are a protected species, or from protected waters? Who knows. That hammer, definitely bleached, just don't give it too much light and it will color back up in a couple months.
