Will this luft pump power snailman's CC 4" skimmer?

The second "luft" you linked two is very loud. Ask tinygiants he has a similar (the same) pump. These are all OEMd by an overseas company.

Thanks bean. Another question. What type of power consumption do the alitas have? I saw 45watts. I am trying to design an energy efficient tank. Sorry if these questions are stupid but I don't really understand air pumps that well.
thanks for your time,
Chris

Which alita would you reccomend for a 4-5' 4" skimmer for a 120gal?

You may want to look at the thrad started by tinygiants. The smallest ALITA you can find on ebay. I am not sure what the model number is off hand. They are 19 liter pumps I believe... so it is likely an L19 or 20L or something. That sound about right for power consumption.

Buy an Alita. My AL-60 is running 12 limewood stones at 4' with air to spare, so now I air cool my ballasts. Pretty quiet for an air pump, too. Wanted an AL-40, but actually got the AL-60 cheaper on ebay. I think it's about 60 W.

They will not come close to the alita.

how does the alita outperform the sweetwater?

aquatico doesnt list a whole lot of info about the aweetwater other than the watts used.

planning a 8' tall 8" diameter acrylic cc skimmer with 8 airstones.

It outperforms those little pumps listed in the link.

They are about the same as the sweatwater (the sweatwater is a copy of the alita). There are about 8 pumps that look the same. There are 3 companies that make these pumps. Alita makes their own, the sweatwaters are oemd in china with 4 or 5 other "brands". I have been told that the 20L units are about the same all around, the 40 liter and above units have some subtle but important differences that make the Alita better.
