will velvet die during 24-hour dryout?

i had a fish with velvet that died and afterwards I rinsed all the equipment and let dry out for 48 hours (no bleach, vinegar or any cleaning solutions used, just tap water and air dry). i didn't think about it until later, but would that 48 hour dry out period have ridded any residual velvet presence? my next QT'ed fish is almost done with its 4 weeks QT (TTM + Prazi + Observation), and didn't show any signs of velvet, so I assume it was OK, but just curious if it works like Ich does.
