Window tint?

My tank sits infront of a west facing window and i keep the blind closed all the time. But in the afternoon the holes in the blinds send some direct sunlight through. I am going to get the windows on that wall tinted with a 99% uv block film. My question is with the film on will i be able to open the blinds or should i still keep them closed to keep from an algae problem?
Thanks
Wes

Wes, we have vista film on every square inch of glass in our home. There are french doors across from our reef tank and sun pours in during the afternoon and algae has never been an issue.

Sunlight isn't an issue as far as nuisance algae goes. People have great algae free tanks using Sola Tubes or having tanks in greenhouses.

However, heat can be an issue from direct sunlight.
