I couldn't resist. My all time favorite Tang used to be my 9" Desjardinii. He was fried when a heater went berserk while I was away one weekend and the tank went to 93. So when I saw a beautifully shaped one in my LFS I had to have it.
So I left the main tank dark as soon as my QT period was up today and released my new buddy into it. I prodded my carpet to close it before giving the Tang his freedom (can't have nervous 2" fish darting into a hungry anemone). I turned the lights on and immediately fed everybody. The new guy didn't eat much but at least he darted around amid his new tank-mates.
So now I wait to see if he winds up getting picked on. I'm not sure if he becomes the straw that breaks the unusual pattern of non-aggression which exists in my reef but he's sooo perfect looking I had to try.
BTW, if you're wondering why I'm nervous, the tank-mates who are now his new neighbors are:
1 11" Mata Tang,
1 8" Orange Shoulder Tang,
1 5" Yellow Tang,
3 4-6" Blue Hippos,
1 4" Sailfin Tang
1 3" female Clarkii,
It's been 3 hours and so far so good.
