I woke up this morning to find my favorite Clown from Rods laying on the ground.

I got him when he was a tiny baby..

Does anyone know if Rod has any young clowns that I can introduce to my older female clown?

This is the second clown I've lost to jumping, (I haven't lost any other fish to jumping), are clowns known for jumping or is it just bad luck? The only other thing in my tank is 2 cleaner shrimp, 2 green chromis, and a sleeper goby.

If they are known for jumping, I might have use some egg grate.

Thanks

covering your tank is ALWAYS reccomended, if you ask me. I've lost 1 wrasse to carpet surfing. Clowns to me, haven't been known for jumping. But you never know.

About the only fish that is almost a gaurantee'd non jumper, is a mandarin. Those things hug the rock like they're superglued to it.

I lost a Mandarin to carpet surfing (hardwood surfing in my case.) So I guess no fish is guaranted not to jump. Well, except Tangs maybe.

Maybe we need to staple 'em to the live rock.

Better yet... put them on a leash.

Ohhh thats and idea, that might be my ticket to a million dollar invention, "fish leashes' kinda like the 'Jump to conclusions" game form Office Space.

sara.....are you talking about me! :( lol

Could be ... you are a young clown that hangs out at Rod's!

I dont think it jumped That clown was pushed I blame the Sleeper Goby. i mean come on is he really a "sleeper"? In reality sorry for your loss

Firefish are little missiles too, especially if you turn the lights on suddenly. I had one jump onto my shirt when I opened the glass lid one morning. I peeled it off and threw it back in. Good thing I wasn't yawning at the time.

reminds me of something little OT.. Anyone ever go to Catalina Island in California? You can take a little boat excursion at night along the coast of the island, they shine a bright light and go back and forth along the shore,.... flying fish come jumping out alongside the boat, many jump into the boat right into your lap, it is hilarious and a treat that kids (and their parents) will talk about for years...

sorry about your clown fish,...... just trying to lighten the mood a bit.......

I just feel bad for the female clown, she has lost two mates in the past 12months...

Maybe she drove both her husbands to jumping hehehhe

I am sorry about your clown though, I guess I've been very lucky.. **knock on wood** I have never had a top and i've had no jumpers.. I am getting a "mesh top" from a CMAS member hes going to make me one.. I'd hate to lose any of my fish and all these stories have got me nervous..

What do you have covering your tank?

An outer orbit light fixture :D

So nothing... I mean if they jump straight up they'll just get a head ache... but I guess I can go back to egg grate.

I've got something better than egg grate,
