Wood Staining Specialist?

i decided to give my worn kitchen cabinets a face lift by sanding and staining the suckers over the weekend. however, to my utter delight...errrrrmmmm......dismay, my staining skills are seriously lacking.

the staining of the cabinet frame looks pretty good, but the couple doors that i stained look awful.

thus, i have decided to leave it in the experts and was hoping someone can hook me up with a staining specialist that can fix my mistakes and finish off the project for a very reasonable cost.

thanks!

Your a bachelor, what's it mater if you stained your entire kitchen with a garden hose!!! In a month or two you won't even notice. :D

Don't you have a home depot out there? the one by me has plenty of experts willing to work for bargin wages (except on the days when the cops chase them off hehe) =)

you're a helpful bunch :D

i can't help either, i've been looking at a couple of things in my place that need to be refinished and don't want to even think about doing them myself :)

and don't you guys know that we gals like men like wilafur? i'm hoping his bathroom toilet seat is always down, there are no mysterious stains around it, and is always kept clean.

LOL!

A while back I was at a house with a mixed group where one person was house sitting. Showing us around the house, the men were scoffing at his tasteful decor, sparkling clean bathroom with dual sinks and well maintained home.

The women were looking around saying, "chick magnet!"

Don't know about your cabinets but looks like you might have caught a date. ;)

Just paint over them with brown paint and be done. :D

Or resand to remove your mistake, use a stain sealer and then restain. Brush on, covering the entire door, then wipe off. Do one door at a time. And the longer you let it sit, the darker it will be. ;)

contrary to paul's previous innuendo.......that is me! bwahahaha!

nano-lurker, you know me so well already! my toilet seats & covers are always down and there are no funky stains to be found in the bathrooms. :D i finally decided to stain my cabinets because i am slowly changing out all the appliances to stainless steel. the mahogany stain really brings out the steel and vice-versa.

thanks for the posts folks. i had a specialist come by last night(he mainly refinishes wood on boats) and boy was his quote high.......i could replace all the cabinets for the price he quoted to stain and finish my cabinets.

i took another crack at the staining again last night and went with minwax polyshade (stain & polyurethane combo) and the result looked waaaaaaaay better. since the stuff needed 6+hrs to dry, i'll check out the finished product when i get home tonight. *fingers are crossed*

oh, and i rubbed on wood conditioner before using the polyshade stuff and it made a huge (positive) difference.

go me!
