so this morning i was looking around my tank as i have found myself doing since i started making it a reek tank. well i seen something coming out of a hole in the live rock . it started out red with similar to a centipede then all the sudden it was black . this thing looks exactly like a centipede ... is this "thing" hardful to the purple zoo's i just got ??? any help would be wonderful thanks!

It sounds like a bristle worm. If thats whats it is you want to keep it in your tank. In the past they were once thought of as a bad critter but since has been noted for the benifical need within the tank. Without a pic I can't say for sure but it sounds like it to me. I personnally can't keep enough of them in my tank due to my wrasses eating them. Just be careful they can sting you with there bristles some poeple have noted painful inching and burning from it. I have handled numbers of them and never felt a thing but ever time IM LON 2 touches one his finger turns RED and he complains it hurts. :)

it could be a form of bristle worm from what i have seen ... odd little critter ... he just goes from hole to hole on the live rock

got tons of the cirratulids in both my tanks, and spaghetti worms, and bristle worms. Can't catch cirratulid worms but takes a couple of weeks to seed rock with them, i have placed live rock in my tank for a few people or traded pieces of similar sized rock so new reefers can seed there tank with critters.
