worm question

I have a lot of Digitate hydroids worms in my tank. Melevs website says they are reef safe(ish). If they get out of control, what can they do? Any way to keep them under control/things that eat them?

They are hydroids not worms and are easily dispatched through good husbandry skills and properly or oversized equipment.

When regular maintenance and a good skimmer is in use (plus resonable feedings, not over feeding) the hydroid will quickly starve to death.

I have a follow up. I also have the hydroids in the tank. I've dosed so Joe's Juice when erradicating some aipstasia but it didn't work (worth the try). I understand the reasonable feeding and all but I have a sun coral and when feeding it is inevitable that other food get into the tank. I've considered feeding it first and not feeding fish / shrimp because they will get a share anyway but I haven't implemented.

Any other ideas?

They pack a powerful sting that can harm stony and soft corals, and tridacnid clams. Keyhole limpets may eat them... but, they may eat soft or stony corals too.

Also, hydroids are photosynthetic.... so, shading them could hurt them. Some people use a toothbrush to rub them away... but, this is only temporary.
