Worm's 180 build

Man it is a good thing that you caught that in time. And not a bad job on the new sump also. The cheato trap is brilliant. Probably also used more experlitaves than you said you used knowing you.

all good now.....and ya gotta love the dollar a gallon sale

Ohh yeah... and I will have a 40g (sump) for the new tank... even though I am thinking of getting a 50g sump instead....) Decisions decisions...

Actually I only used 3... All in the first sentence and then quickly got in recover mode. No one was there to hear them, and I was not in the mood to hear someone complain (hahahaha) so off I went. I kind of laugh about it earlier...

But again.. my kids can tell you that I can be so 'deadpan' but they see me laugh too, so I am not a stick in the mud!

SHEW... so ... wedding to go to this weekend and sump building 101 on Monday.

I am looking for ideas building a sump and putting in baffles. (hahahahahahaha) (I think I already posted that idea a while ago)

I am thinking of switching it up. From left to right....

DT Drain (x2)
Skimmer pump and return
LR to let DT return crash on.

//Under//
\\Over\\
//under, about 4 inches from the bottom of tank//

3" Sand bed for MACRO algae roots
LR
Cheato and some other MACRO

\\Over\\
//Under//

Return Pump
Carbon [feed and return]
GFO [feed and return]
ALK feed
Calcium feed
ATO float and feed

Won't let me edit.. must have taken too long... hahaha..

SO...

When doing my sump I had to remove everything... I was not really worried about the temp though.

Code:
Program Type: Advanced
  Display Icon: Thumbs
  Program:
     Fallback OFF
If Temp < 78.1 Then ON
If Temp > 78.4 Then OFF
If Temp < 60.0 Then OFF

If I had unplugged my temp guage then it would have red like 20 degrees and cut off. As it was it got to 61 degrees instantly... I think it was just how/where it was setting.

I have a handheld temp reader. I use it all the time. I have even tested to see the temperature difference between multiple things and make sure that the temp probe is reading the same temp across a range of temps (60-90). Nothing would be worse to have a bad lead and calibrate the gage only to have the temp spike and the gage not see it.

I really need to get the wiring cleaned up now.

worm5406 - Man glad you caught that leak early. Sumps leaks are the worst! My sump leaked one time on my old 90 for about a month before I realized the carpet was kinda hard around the back of my tank.

You know normally we leave our sumps as they are and don't really check on them too much. They stay pretty stagnant and a water spot or finger prints we are not usually too worried about.

Here you can see the sump, in these two pictures:

If you look you can see how I have things setup.

Water come in on the LEFT and goes back UP on the right. Skimmer pulls out on the left, fuge/cheato in the center, and GFO/CARBON in and out on the right. Of course the return pump going back up.

To chance the GFO and carbon I turn off the feed pump and disconnect the quick connect and open/clean/refill them.

The two canisters sit there with no problems and no movement, unless I manually move them.

Yesterday I did a full water change (30 gallons) and cleaned/refilled out the GFO and the carbon.

Everything was nice and simple.

Woke up this am checked on the tank to make sure nothing died off.

Came home to.... WATER ON THE FLOOR... I mean we have all prob done a little bit on the floor doing or dripping something. BUT:

Well... hummm what did I leave on... Nope.. not the ATO... NOPE.. not the RODI... Not the siphon hose I use... The ATO line did not get disconnected or leaking. Checked the GFO and carbon, maybe I did not push them in all the way... Nope.. all good... WAIT... What is that between the two canisters.

DEVISTATED... WAIT.. (insert a few experlitaves here)... It only has a small drip... it is still early... $1/gallon sale I come.

While driving over I try to deduce what caused this. I do not band the canisters against the tank or anything to get bubbles out. I tap them and fill slowly... I must have tapped/bumped them against it sometime, yesterday. I did the change my self so I am the only one that could be blamed.

OK.. so.. To get the sump back up and running I HAVE to get two 40g breeder tanks.

1) to replace the cracked sump.

2) to put the baffles in and let cure.

OK.. yeah... two $1/gal 40 gallon breeder tanks I got and brought home.

TOOK me an hour to do the following: (see next post)

Yeah I am VERY glad I look at the tank often.

One of these days, when it is done, I am going to put a few chairs down there and just sit back and enjoy.

HAHA... RC was down Fri... I left town and did not have access to internet until just now... LOL...
I have a lot of reading to catch up on!

Yessir you do. How is your friends hair algae and phosphates doing? The leave the building yet?

Sent from my reef tank and my skim doesn't stink.

All is well.

I have to do some scrubbing on my tank this week. Just making sure it is kept down. It does not take long all of about 15-20 minutes. Do not have to scrub as hard now as I did as those first few days.

That's cool. It'll begone before you know it.

Yes it is starting to show some... but all the MAJOR places is crystal clean. The swapp out of GFO and staying up on the cleaning has helped quite a bit.

I am worried that the radion's I have just installed is going to start a reinsurance of it though, due to higher light output.

keep fighting the good fight and stick to what your doing.... negative thoughts translate into negative results...... stay positive sir..

I doubt that unless you start out low and ramp up slowly like as if you are doing a coral acclimation.
