Makes me think of dogs and carpets...

Amazing pics. Especially knowing that none of the fish or corals sat still for the pics. I'm sure you already posted but what camera are you using?

I have a Sony alpha-99 24 mega pixel camera. Micro lense and other normals lenses/attachments.

When I upload to my google picasa album it takes some pictures, automatically, and converts them into an animated gif. Real nice. IDK when they started to do it, but I really like it. It does not always work, but on some burst shots it is perfect.

I have a thread in the camera/photography section too, about the camera and some other examples.

OK.. I am thinking of doing a video of my setup.

I am looking for some ideas. I know no one really wants to see the RODI and how it works.

I do not have any underwater cameras so that is not an option... LOL...

OK ... so give me some ideas.

Well, you asked for it!

  • Start with a full tank shot, of course. Let people watch the whole tank for a minute or two to see how it behaves on its own.
  • Then pick a section for a medium view. Slowly zoom in on any items of interest within that medium view. Repeat to cover remaining sections of the tank.
  • Avoid excessive camera movement. It bothers viewers eyes and constantly goes in and out of focus.
  • Thoughtful editing of clips is preferable to running the camera back and forth trying to capture everything in one swell foop.
  • Clean the glass before you start.
  • Make sure you eliminate light reflections from all sources, including yourself and your camera.
  • Keep the camera's lens parallel with the aquarium glass. Shooting at an angle through the glass creates distortion.
  • Use a tripod to keep the camera steady so we don't have to guess how long it's been since you last had a drink.
Those are a few thoughts to begin with.

HAHAHA... Yeah I know all that... (only practice a few of it) (kidding.. wow tough crowd)

But I was more interested in if someone wanted to see something in particular. LOL

Sump and overflow area (have you checked your overflow lately??)

Tank shots are so 2010!, lets see some shots inside the overflow, then get one of those maneuverable cameras and lets see the waters journey down those pipes! hhahaha

It will not look like this.

BTW.. This is the left hand overflow. Wanted to check it and see if anything got lost in there.

Great pics and video as usual. The animated gifs are pretty cool. I especially like the one of the green coral where you can see what looks like the shimmer effect from above and the light moving across the coral.

New video... With a question.

WHY are my GSP still purple on the frag spots? They are growing like wild, just like I want them to, in the location they are on.

Truly an awesome build...took my a while to get through all the videos, but really liked how you went about documenting everything.

Thanks. It has been a labor of love.

I need to set my camera back up to show some of the other normal activities in the tank. Those last few were taken with my cell.

Thanks for looking/watching.
