Worm's 180 build

Yes exactly on the bearing being loud.

Those are the same ones I got. I should have taken a picture... LOL.

Thanks for posting that.

Anyone that looks at the web cam will see the two heads on a ladder, with the two old one sitting below it.

With the look of them someone else must have had issues too, getting rid of the fan and making a much larger heat sink really worked out better.

So last night I was up getting ready for the snow we got today...
I left my RODI running filling up my ATO.

UUgh. I need to put a float valve on that.

Only ran over for about 2 hours till I caught it. (At 4am) LOL

Here is the snow we got:

A mere dusting. We get as much in the morning when the sun comes up and again when it cools off as the sun goes down. Sort of loses its novelty real fast.

Nice vid, Stubbs is my go to BBQ sauce ( i like the spicey), I was in Baltimore earlier in the year and made a visit to Chaps Pit Beef. Excellent Beef sandwich's and huge pork ribs and fresh horseradish.

OK Thanks.

I ordered the 170DM5

170DM5:

Adjustable Output (GPD): 8.5 - 170.0
RPM: 44
Motor HP: 1/30
6' power cord attached
Dimensions are 12.7" x 6" x 5.3"
The Stenner 170DM5 Pump uses a #5 Tube

100DM4:
Adjustable Output (GPD): 3.5 - 70.0
RPM: 26
Motor HP: 1/30
6' power cord attached
Dimensions are 12.7" x 6" x 5.3"
The Stenner 100DM4 Pump uses a #4 Tube

Same price on both.

I got the 1/4" model.

Hey Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but Im about to buy the 170 model as well.

Are you still using it?

Did you have good results when you use/used it?

I'm worried most about both pumps getting the same amount of fluids when on.

I read your post about it being too loud. I wont have that issue with it being in the attic of my house.

Thanks for your time!

I just realized I was posting in my 265 thread updates on the 180.

Well sorry.

Tonight I installed a Kessil A150W to light the sump.

Figured I would let the cheato grow in there for a bit.

I have to clean out the ATS real good, and let it soak in Vinegar. So I put the kessil in to let the cheato have a bit more light and work better.

The camera is still running and I am still going to work on the 265.

I have come across a new idea for a new fish room but that will be a new thread.

I have not installed it. I was getting things ready for my 265 addition. That is what I am going to use for water changes and such.

Sorry

So last night I was doing some maintenance/feeding/watching of the tanks.

Put it in feed mode a few times to see some items. Even turned off the skimmer feed pump to rerun how the wires in the sump.

Well I guess I did not look over to the skimmer and see that it was not feeding it water before I went to bed. Aeration pump turned off since it was dry.

If you have ever pretended to have a power outage, you have ensured that you have plenty of head room in your sump to take all the water. Most of us probably turn back on our skimmer/pumps and before 15 minutes or so have passed let alone 5-6 hours. It was just the skimmer feed, not the return pumps.

Well look at this screen capture and see if you can tell me what went wacky last night.

So a few things I can think about from this:

pH changed from lack of skimmer action and water was higher in sump. Covering the probe by a foot more of water. This might have dislodged something on the walls of the sump, but the flow would have mixed it up.

With the added water volume not being aerated the temperature was able to stay closer in line with smaller swings.

Amp5 shows a major decrease. Since this pump runs almost 24/7 it never goes below 0.99 for large periods.

Sg shows a change and this probe sits beside the pH in the sump.

I notice tonight when I put the tank in feed mode (return pump off), when the sump fills with water my pH drops.

I just calibrated the pH probe Sun night, with 7 and 10. I tested it afterward and it seemed spot on in the solution after cleaning it off with RO water.

Interesting.

I did do a vinegar bath on it before a day before I calibrated it though.

Ideas or thoughts?

My pH after calibration has been at 8.2-8.38 over the past 24 hours.

My only other change is I added a better light to the sump to let some cheato grow and grab nutrients. The Skimmer is working well and airaiting the water, but maybe a tad too well.

Orp

Orp

Hi, Are you running Ozone?..if not ,I think your ORP probe might be out of wack.500 is very unusually high with no Ozone (even WITH ozone, that is a very extreme number)

That is what I thought too. I might get a new probe. But it has been spot on for quite a while. I mean no real spikes except when pump on/off like it should be as it brings up the levels.

No ozone, was thinking of it for a while.

I was feeding the tank last night and decided a few things looked interesting. Here are a few small clips from my tanks. Sorry it is from my cell, I did not pull out the DSLR.

<iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/acoQANuPoU0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Tank update:

Took a friends MR1 (NextReef) and filled it with Carbon. It is sitting right outside the sump, if you look at the live-web-cam.

Moved some rocks in the sump to allow the cheato to flow around a bit better.

Replaced a hydor power head, as it had stopped, in the sump left hand side just to keep detritus moving and elsewhere.

No other updates today. Things are looking better, including the glass.
