Worm's 265g addition

Well I already have 5 on my existing 120/180. So There will be 5 more.

:)

I was thinking of taking the existing setup and using the apex head unit as a spare. Go ahead and upload the existing config to it. Everynow and then upload any changes I make.

Floyd R Turbo - Did you use a jig to cut the teeth and if so please pm me. I am thinking of building one also.

Just posted pics of one I built a while back. External box is deeper than the Reef Savvy version which IMO is better. Bulkheads are not submerged enough in a shallow box. Ok if you don't push a ton of flow, but any turbulence and it's bubble city.

oops forgot link

Oh Larry...I guess I will tag along on here...subscribed.

Looking forward to see the larger tank build.

I look forward to seeing the larger tank build. I am just starting my first build and I have to say I love the camera.

Thanks, lol.

Thanks. I think I might have to move it once I get the 265 installed. I love to peek in on the tank when I am away on vacation or just need to watch.

Welcome to Reef Central, btw.

I built a jig by hand out of 3/8" acrylic that I double-stick-tape down and then use a flush trim spiral upcut bit to make about 18-24" worth of teeth in one shot. The jig took about 3 hours or so to make but I've used it dozens of times since :)

Really a fine looking overflow Floyd, wish I'd done my current tankmthatbway. Oh well! Why did you bother to do teeth though, whenever I've done one, I just kept it toothless?

That was what they guy wanted. Some people want teeth, others don't. Depends on your preference and tendency of livestock. The one tank I have that I had it built into has a flame hawk that rides down to the sump no matter how many times he is returned to the tank. Clowns have a tendency to go for waterslides too.

I think my drains will have spinning blades in them.
Sorry for being late to the party. Can't wait for this build to happen. Been dreaming about it since we originally talked about it when we met. I will definitely be along for the ride.

You're putting spinners on the drain?

Thanks... Not really like spinners from our time... More like this:

Bass-O-Matic?

HAHA Maybe the Clown-O-Matic

OK Some ideas and thoughts for those wondering how planning and all is going.

Thinking about:
Calcium Reactor
Sea Swrilly

Some thoughts to some system parameters that will be available on new 265:
With 2x dc12000 pumps there will be 2000gph at the nozzle, well really 4000, but that would be with both running at full power.

Height from sump/pump to tank edge is 6 feet. (2 meters)

Once completed this will be an inwall design with removal wall pieces to have access to left right and top of tank.

Does anyone have rim measurements for marineland 265 tank?

I am looking for how tall the top rim is on external side. The distance from edge to edge. Also from the edge to the glass underneath.

All of these are like 1-2 inches or so. But im looking for down to the 1/8 type measurement.

Floyd R Turbo - Looks great! I may have to give that a shot.
