I go through this S**T every freaking year. I've had enough.

Hold on...

Ortho Bug B Gon Max. It is dry granules and you use a broadcast spreader to apply. I never used anything before last year because I prefer not to use chemicals, but going from getting a tick every few weeks to 10+ per day in my yard made it necessary. I know too many people with Lyme disease. From 2 days post application and through the rest of the warm season, I didn't see another tick. I'm in NE PA, so the climate is very similar to yours but about 10 degrees cooler.

Some areas seem to be much worse. Last year ridge and north shore eastern suffolk was pretty bad.

In the grand scheme of things I wonder how much of that gets into our water supply lol

None if it is applied correctly. Problem is when people get it on driveways, sidewalks, and roads then just leave it for the next rain. Grass is an amazing filter. Plus Nassau and Suffolk have the strictest pesticide laws in the country. Many products are not available for purchase or use here that are in Jersey, Westchester and the rest of the country.

Sorry to hear that. My dog started having serious heart problems six months ago, to make a long story short, it was from some type of tick virus, he tested positive for rocky mounted spotted fever and the vet said it could be from that or another type tick virus. The vet cardiologist said a couple of years ago he would get maybe three cases a year. Now he gets a couple of cases a week. If you try to buy pesticides and such on line you'll see that most chemicals are banned in NY state and maybe one other state. Funny how you never hear in the local news what the ticks are passing around and to what extent now, and how serious the diseases can be. You cant even walk through Hecksher state park any more without getting covered.

Hope your pup pulled through. I feel bad for all those people/pets that go undiagnosed and may be suffering. I've had almost every symptom on the list since i posted this thread. During the summer i went to the er with chest pains and crippling fatigue. It was dismissed as anxiety/stress. My dr finally put the pieces together and suggested a testing for babesiosis after i got sick as hell with fever and internal bleeding a couple weeks ago. Looking forward to some relief.
