I do however agree with buying quality, but not at the expense of being ridiculous. For instance with all of my fishing gear I buy quality so I am not replacing it every year or two. If maintained many mid range products will last a lifetime as they were built to do. So the cost of something and the quality of something are all in ones perspective as well as the size of their wallet. I've not worked since last June due to a lot of problems with my spine, so my money is tight to say the least. I'm also going to have a second surgery in March on my spine so there will be another 12 week healing process from that point so again no work or income for another 6 months. So my perspective is to buy a quality product in the middle of the road and get good performance for the life of that product which in this case is said to be 50,000 hours.
Not everyone can afford $600-$1200 or more just for lights, even though they are one of the most important pieces of our reef tanks puzzle.
