Would this be a good fuge light

Are you growing macro?

If so you need something with color around 5000K to 6500K. I used both the JBJ macroglo (6500K) and TrueLumenPto (8000K) and the macro grew much better on the jbj.

Right now I'm making an led strip using 6 Cree XP-g (5000K). Hope this works as well as the jbj.

go to lowes or home depot and get a 100 spiral floresent bulb and cheap aluminin light that has a squeeze clamp that you can attach to your stand or support under your tank for less than $20.00 spent and it works great.

Thanks but I wanted something a bit smaller and I tend to like everything under my stand very neat... for another $9 I think this light will fit what I am looking for. However some say to do what you suggest or just throw a flood light in there so I am assuming that color temp is not as important on a fuge light. However before I make the purchase I figured I would solicit opinions.

You're really growing plants, not coral in there, so the spectrum is different.. CFL with a reflector works great, its cheap and effective.

Thats why I was looking at a grow light... I will probably go with a low watt cfl...

Thanks for the suggestion. Fits a 20 High? works for me..

Yup...have it on my 15g. They are the same dimensions, the 15g is just shorter.

Here it is in action:

Awhile back I ran a PAR38 LED blub over my fuge that was about 14K-20K color. My chaeto grew like mad under it, constantly have to trim it back
