would this cause algea

I feed my fish with that dry seaweed stuff atached to a clip. My water tests out fine, but would this be spreading algea. I never tought about it.

I have been doing that for a while now. As long as you keep your water quality up, and good skimming, there should be no problem.

The only time you should be concerned is if you leave it in for too long.

Your water test out fine because the algae is using up the nitrates and phospahtes so they don't show up on the tests. When I had my massive algae outbreak everything tested out fine too.

that packaged algae is processed and long dead... nutrients remain but there is no live algae
