i have a 125 All-Glass reeftank, 72 inches by 18 inches. it has a few hundred pounds of live rock and coral. i run a mag 12 in my sump so my flow is around 1050 GPH, i do have 3 fish though 2 of them are the little mini clowns I think they are Ocellaris Clowns but not sure they only grown to 1.5 inches in 5 years and a Pajama Cardinal that i never see. this is my in the wall setup so i have lots of time to care and feed them. would they be ok with these 3 fish and this kinda flow..also i do have many low water flow spots in my tank since i have no power heads, just the return pipes.
thanks jeff

Reef conditions are usually not the correct conditions for seahorses. Recommended flow is 3 - 5x volume of water. Your tank is running 10x. Also, most reef tanks (but not all) run around 78F or higher...which is also not conducive to keeping seahorses long term.

Not saying it couldn't be done though. You'd definitely have to use a feeding station to be sure they'd be eating/finding food. If the temps are cool enough and the clowns aren't territorial, it could work.

If you're looking for a ringing endorsement that yes, it will be fine... I can't give you that, unfortunately. It might work fine. That's the best opinion I can offer.

I secoine what reefnut said.. 100%

one way to modify the flow would be to set up a spraybar system though... have most of it aiming up at the surface, with a few holes aiming around the tank that way, the horses SHOULD beable to get alot of lower flow, but you'll still have the high-ish flow from the return.

i.m not worried so much about the flow..at 72 inches and having 2 sprayers really does leave alot of dead spots, plus i could always aim them behind the live rocks since i have so much it now cover then entire back of the tank, my main concern is the fish with seahorse..they are not agressive in anyway but just wanted to make sure the horse would do ok with the fish, what kind of horses would be best in this type of tank. and i do have 2 chillers so my temp would be ok...i make them at work!
thanks jeff

oh, your near me-hullo!! haha

anyways, I'm still worried about the flow... if you were closer, I'd scrub the algae off my tank and invite ya over to see how little flow I have, and what a maxi-jet 600 can do to a horse in its current... bbut if you can aim everything behind the rocks, without any of it hitting the rock where the horsees can get stuck, you will be ok...

I'd be cautious around the clowns, be prepared to move them if there is any aggression. do you have corals in the tank? what are they-thats the other worry...

otherwise, seahorsesource is a good place to get horses, you can stock pretty heavily in that size of a tank. try to do specific species.. like, 6 H. erectus

heres a pretty good list of what can be in with horses:

always nice to see someone from this state even if you are in the middle of no-where! actually i go to thunderbay alot so i do drive that way! my main corals are a toad stool and a 16 year old finger leather..he was my first coral and i have no idea how he has made it that long...in the beginning it was a rough time but now he buds every year and pumps off 8 buds..one day i will have to start collecting them and trading them off but i was thinking of getting a hammer coral but i think they might sting seahorses so i might not
thanks jeff

thunderbay-I need a map....

read, read, read. anemones are bad, clams are iffy-mostly bad...

go onto seahorse.org and syngnathid.org they both have lots of info, and read that tankmate list ^ hammers aren't good... I don't know about the toadstool, leathers are fine though.

thats odd...why are clams bad? i don't have any..which i should withh ow many halides i have but what could a clam do to a seahorse
