Would you use a filter sock?

I don't use them, but I have a couple. I use one tied around the end of a length of tubing when I need to do a major cleanup. I just drop the one end in the sump and then start a siphon going. I can clean out all the gunk I want without all that water going down the drain. Afterwards I do a regular water change.

I don't use socks on my . I tried it for awhile and they really didn't do anything special. I had to change them 2-3x per week, which wasn't what I wanted to do. was kind of a pain in neck to me with no visable benifit

i think the socks will help polish the water a bit. but i'm too lazy to change them once or twice a week so i don't use them anymore. i just vacuum out the detritus from the sump once a month. i might use them again in the future though :D

I love 50 micron socks. Makes my water so clear. Does require frequent changes though. I wouldn't get less than 20 socks total.

I buy the socks from BRS in 10s and have. 65 DT with 25 sump I have a bean animal setup. So there is 2 sock. I get about 4 days out of the one sock b4 the water flows over the top of the sock what I do is put it in the shower stall and put shower massage head on fast pulse and rinse it and turn it inside out and rinse then wringe it and it goes back in the sump.. I get 2-3 months out of one sock

I run 200 micron socks in my sump. Change them religiously every 3 days. Buy them in lots of 50 from the cary company. With shipping they cost less than $3 each
