Wow, first time I ever saw this (Tomatoe/Anenome)

I bought a pair of mated clowns from a swap meet. Recently I bought a really cool looking green Anenomoe from a reef store in Chicago.

Immediatly, the anenome hosted the clowns. That's cool.....and was expected.

Now, here's the really cool thing.

I've been feeding the fish flake and the smaller pellet foods. I found some brine shrimp pellets (the larger ones), dropped it into the tank and watched. Immediately the female clown immediately grabbed it and 'fed' it to the anenome. I swear to god, it took the pellet in it's mouth, swam over the anenome, burried it's head and I put the shrimp pellet near the anenome's mouth.

I initially thought that that was a coincidence. So, I dropped another shrimp pellet, and the same thing happened.

Wow.

First time I think I've ever seens a clown 'deliver' food to the anenome. :bum:

yea that is their natural response, clowns should generally feed their anemone. very cute to watch, seen tons of clowns do it.

Ive had clowns pull foods from other anemones to feed to the one their hosting in. Its a pain in the butt sometimes.

My clarkii fed her anemone with a ricordea mushroom frag attached to a small rock that I had just placed in the tank  .

I had a tomato clown in the 80s that used to do that, but my ocellaris never did that. My tomato used to charge my hand and bite it every time I put my hand in the tank, youch!!

I have seen several of the clowns I have had over the years do that. I have had tomatoes, maroons and percs. I never had an anemone with the percs though.

I've always hoped my clowns would have a similar response. But no... my clowns never feed their anemone. They even try to clean it out. Especially my old cinnamon. Every time i'd feed an anemone, it'd rip at the food and toss it out to clean the anemone.
:\
Therefore I had to defend the anemone with my hands (ouch she bites) and a net.

My percs do this all the time to my frogspawn, its very funny they need to take care of their home.

I tested my Tom.. lazy rat wont feed his anemone the shrimp I put right in front of them both >.<

nice rifle Speeddemon.

My clown has done this quite a bit. It was kind of sad. One day the anemone moved into a spot right in front of a power head and it blew a hole through it. Needless to say we removed the anemone, but when we fed the clown, for a while he would grab the food and drop it off in the place the anemone was.
