Wow! My wife wants a new house and I'm thinking to myself that it woudl be awesome to go big, like 600-800 gallons big, but now that I see how involved it is and how I didn't even consider that you really need to protect your investment with major quarantine systems, I think I'll stick to a 180-220. I do have to say though that the best part would be telling your neighbors why you had a tanker truck arrive at your house!

Vivid is one of the only online sellers I use, those guys know their stuff..That system is insane, but that filter sock system seems like it would be a PITA to change and clean..Plus 18" for behind the system? I would need way more lol

Don't forget you can sit on (or lay down on) the top braces. They are 1" thick. That's far superior than standing behind the tank. Heck, you might as well put a face mask on and just lay down and user your mask to see what you are doing.

Seeing how they thought of everything on that tank, I'm willing to be you that those socks can be changed in 3 minutes. I bet there's a lid on a hinge that allows you to just reach in and grab them and change them.

Also, it's very possible that they don't change all 6 at a time, but rather rotate them, so perhaps only 2 new ones go in every 24-48 hours and they move the more clogged ones down etc...

Oh, I forgot the most important thing! I can't even come close to affording that! I'm sure that it's at least a 100k build probably 150k with all the livestock.

fantastic build. i'm not sure i'd ever want a tank that was impossible to maintain myself. with his budget , i might rent victoria secret models and dive GBR instead.

I saw this video the other day at a different site... really astounding. And I also wondered how much it cost. I think $150K sounds low, given that it can easily cost $1K to set up a decent 20L. If it "only" cost $150K, I think we'd see more tanks like this. Every rapper on MTV Cribs would have one. They'd just park the Bentley next to the sump.

Whaddya think maintenance is (chemicals, labor, everything), $500/wk or more?

Somebody has been studying David Saxby's system. They are similar in set up and extended water volume

Just amazing well thought of build. Very jealous but then I think about the maintenance I do on a tank the fraction of the size but even all the maintenance seems to be well thought of!

If we wonder how much it cost/costs, we clearly can't afford it. No doubt my man has tons o paper! Start up cost is one thing, can't imagine operation costs, Must get his juice directly from the Hoover.
