I'm a little confused with how everyone's stocking their wrasses. From what I've read and pictures of all the experienced wrasse keepers, you can mix fairy wrasses and flasher wrasses and aggression is rarely mentioned. I kept a male labouti fairy wrasse in my 180 gallon and added a pair of pyle's wrasse couple months ago (using the social acclimation box for a week) and they had a hard time settling in.
I had tried turned off the light for 48 hours, reaquascaped my tank, putting mirrors to distract the labouti and it had taken almost 2 weeks before the pyle's were allowed to come out. Even then, the labouti's will chase my male pyles all over the place on a regular basis. It's been a little over a month and my pair of pyle's are out and about but the labouti will sometimes chase them everywhere. I was not ready for this and did not expect that to happen when I purchased my pyle's pair. I wonder if this is normal or I have a terrible labouti or I need to add more fairy wrasses into the tank to spread their aggression?
I have a feeling that your wrasse is still fine, my female pyle hid for a little over a week and came out a little skinny but still made it. I have a feeling that yours will make it.
