Hi dudes

I need some advice or ideas. I want to add more wrasses in my 170g reef.

The only wrasse in the tank is a C. exquisitus.

What do you think which wrasses fits?
I want to add a pair C. jordani this is for sure.

Do you have any ideas? :)

cheers,
steven

I wanted to add a few pairs. But I dont know which will fit. I do not want aggressive wrasses.
Maybe a pair C. lubbocki?

Is there anyone who has a pair C. adornatus?

adornatus is aggressive.

I don't mess much with Cirrhilabrus pairs/trios anymore; the females always seem to eventually turn male regardless of the conspecific present.

To add to that, C. jordani are infamous for pairs becoming two males. Only do one as Evolved has suggested.

As far as what to add, you have a lot of options for that size tank. What are the other tankmates?

Ok, then it is not necessary to add them as a pair? Maybe better to add just one of each wrasse then.

Other tankmates: a pair mandarins, blue girdled angel, Moorish Idol, tomini tang, 2 chromis, 2 zoramia leptuca, poryphyr dottyback, 2 okinawae gobbies and a oxicirrhipus typus

I would like to add: lubbocki, jordani, lineatus, m. geoffroy

any other ideas?

Here are a few ideas for you.....

Does anyone keep a Red Velvet in his tank? Would love to see some pics or videos. This is a wrasse I would like to have.

Not if you are to have other species alongside it. It's way up on there on the aggression amongst Cirrhilabrus, and typically won't tolerate other wrasses. There are occasional exceptions, but it's really not worth the risk.

You might find this a worthwhile read for you.

Hi Hunter

Thanks for the link! I will read this as soon im at home.
Can you tell me which Cirrhilabrus can be mixed with my C. exquisitus the best?

Which can you recommend to have not that much aggressivity in my tank.

A bunch of different ones, really. There's a list in that link which will answer both of those.

Ok Hunter.. I will read your link when I am at home :)
Its not that easy to find some Cirrhilabrus here in Switzerland. ANd when you were lucky and a LFS can order some they are very expensive here.

I have had a Jordani trio for almost a year and the females still look very different and smaller than the male. I have a Laboutei quintet that has also settled into a harem for over a year. I have only one Lineatus and because it is bigger than all the other fairy wrasses, it seems to keep their aggression down even though it is not aggressive towards them.

Awesome, congrats :) I did see the lunate too, someone snatched him up quick... within a couple of hours. I'm jealous of both of you!
