Wrasse with damaged/injured mouth?

Wrench

New member
I picked up a male red margin wrasse a couple weeks back. I noticed recently that his mouth looks injured or damaged. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that this is indicative of some sort of infection or disease but I can't remember the details.

Anyone have any info?

They can get excited and run into the rocks causing physical damage or it could be from fghting...

I have a male rhomboid that had the same thing a week ago and it looks like its healed now. If it doesn't look infected I would just leave it be...

Thank you. I had assumed as much. He's still eating pretty well so we'll see how he fares over the next week or so.
