Wrasses eat Algae?

From what I understand, wrasses are carnivore... but yet of late, I discover my 2 wrasse enjoying the nori I put in for my Tang.

Is this normal?

My indo pacific common cleaner wrasse loves algae strips, I've had him for 3 years. My Leopard & Melanaurs don't touch it except maybe a small flake that breaks off in the water column.

My neon goby... butterflyfish.. cherub angelfish... tang... and wrasse eat nori

The pig that is known as a yellow coris - forcefully rips the algae away from the tang and tries to break it into smaller pieces against the LR to eat. :lmao:

My leopard goes for the nori. My friend has a melanurus that rips all the algae up off the clip and doesnt eat it though.

Our leopard loves it, but the lunare just rips it off and plays it with, while consuming a small portion of it.

yes wrasses have been found to eat algae but mostly they are carnivorous
mine will eat almost anything that goes in the tank immediately with vigor

all of mine will eat anything i really put in the tank and as soon as it is in the water..my fairys and flashers love nori and will eat it right out of my hand while i try to put it on the clip

Pretty much sums it up. My fairies have always eaten the nori. I had one that took to it faster than the tang did.

My McCoskers has developed a taste for nori in a clip. Surprised me too.
