I like fish. I like photography. I like sharing. So sue me

<----- hires lawyer.

:D

I am also interested in hearing from other RC members that have kept the Wrought Iron. I don't recall too many others on these boards actually having them...... I wonder when the 2nd fish will be posted on DD?

Happy happy. Joy joy

Ahhh..... The good ole days of Ren and Stempy! ;)

(Sorry couldn't resist)

It's interesting that when these fish first surfaced about a year or so ago, there was little or no interest. At least nothing that I knew of. Hence the cheaper price as someone has already mentioned. I could have gotten my dirty paws on some but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I wondered why the sudden surge in popularity?

I know the guy that bought the last one that was sold on Divers Den but he made it a point to me not to share that they had it. Ill PM them and see if there has been a change of heart...

I know the ones I saw before this didn't look nearly as good. I think they are better looking as they get bigger, personally.

yeah, road bikes are expensive, but I bought those when I was not a poor Grad student.

But if you ask a bunch of people on the street if they would spend 2 grand on a bike, they would probably say no, but not have a jaw drop; ask them about spending two grand on a fish, and most will drop their jaw or give you a "are you nuts?" face.

I am not trying to stir up argument, just envious of those that have the coin to buy a fish for this kind of money that could end up dying. At least my road bike will be around forever, or at least until I am too old to get my leg over the top tube ;)

And yeah, pictures would be nice, whenever it shows up :)

agreed on not being argumentative, but constructive.

Here is my stance on fish- they are easy to keep. Diseases are known and medications for such are common. There is no plague, not unexpalined problems. Therefore, I am not worried about my expensive fish just "dying". I care for my fish, and if they show illness, I treat them appropriately. It would be like you never maintaining your $2000 road bike, and me claiming they are "prone to catastrophic self failure". Its just not true. Especially since we are talking about fish that are known as hardy fish. Not a Pinnatus Batfish or Harlequin filefish, but fish known to eat well and tolerate captivity well. Why is it being treated as such a gamble? I have a high dollar amount of fish in my tank, and feel totally safe and secure in their survival. I have taken the steps for them.

If we want to talk about jaw dropping dollar figures, 3/4 of the other "hobbies" of reef aquarists (or anyone for that matter) can fall into it. I was amazed at how much an exhaust can cost for a sports car, or a diamond costs, or shoes, or how much my brother spends on gambling.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh, and so the crypticism (hey, I think Im coining that word) can end, yes, I did buy the fish. Yes I do also own a conspic and a interruptus, and yes, I also have many other pricy fish in my tank.

I subscribed to this thread so far lately 9 out of 10 replies has nothing to do with Wrought Iron. Why do you care how much other people spend instead of how much you have in your wallet?

C'mon let's get back on topic. I would really like to know what's the longest kept alive in captivity?

Congrat on your new purchase! Please keep us posted with the progress and would love to learn more about this fish.

Did it eat right way , if so what? What's your quarantine procedure?

By the way, congrats.

Congrats on your new addition. At least we now know it wound up in experienced hands. I think you have also coined a new word, that being "crypticism". You should trademark it.

Congratulations!

I have to commend you, that was FAST ! It was gone by the time I got the e-mail... must be a record!... did you time yourself ??

I so want to put it in the cart.

It is eating everything, too, even flakes. I just hope these do not chomp on corals though.
