i want to store water for my water changes and i am curious on how i should store it, should i put salt in and ph buffer and then store ti shoudl i jsut store it and add the salt and stuff like a day beforei put it in the tank, and how long can i store it for???

I keep about 40 gallons covered in a brute container at all times ready to go. I just put a powerhead in it to circulate it. I've had it go for as long as three weeks before with no problems.

hop do you store it with the salt and stuff or jsut plain water

I too always keep some salt water made up but keep some plain RO/DI stored as well. When storing salt mix for more than a day or so make sure it is covered and check salinity, temperature and pH before using it it the main tank. After mixing I always heat it to just a degree or so below tank temperature. That avoids temperature swings in the main tank. Of course heating can cause evaportion so have some RO/DI ready to adjust the salinity.

44 gallon brute with auto-top-off, 1" drain on the bottom with a ball valve, tied to another 44 gallon brute for SW mixing, tied to another ball valve that's tied to a hose. Basically a few twists here and there of ball valves I can fill anything within reach of the hose with RO/DI or SW in a flash

So I have approximately 40 gallons of RO/DI and 40 gallons of SW going at all times. I don't have a heater in mine, but it's a good idea as waterkeeper added. My wet room is always 76 degrees and my tank is at 78. So adding 40 gallons of 76 degree water to 450 gallons at 78, doesn't cause much of a temp swing Your situation might very well be different!

Total cost minus the Brute cans... About $50 if you include the shut off kit
