WTB-Aiptasia Eating Filefish

I have one for a few weeks now and so far I haven't seen him picking at my SPS. He did clean up any of the Aiptasia that I had in my frag tank and my main tank. I'm hoping he takes a liking to those nice brown palys/zoanthids that I have next.

I've had one for almost a year and I've never had him go after an Sps. Not that it can't happen. I was infested with majano's. After they were gone he went after my brown button polyps. No problem there. I'm actually looking for another for my sump. Since it is infested with majano's. Thought of trapping it.

+1 exact same experience. They seem to like the long fingered paly's.

I also have seen two of the Bristletail file fish clamp on the SPS at night. I guess they are slepping while attached?? They don't seem to hurt the SPS.

Just got an email Notification that the Matted File fish is in Live aquaria stock. I might put in an order Jon so If you want me to get you one LMK.

CBB took care of around 1/2 dozen in a week or so. Picky eater @ first, Hikari Mysis worked for me. Mike @ Tropical Island had a few around 3 1/2".

I've heard it's a crap shoot getting them to eat. I guess I got lucky.

Yeah me too and I had some really preety ones but never had one eat and aptasia. The file fish I first got wiped out an infested tank in just a couple of weeks. Just got another and he already at work in my infested sump.

Glad to hear they are doing their job Tom. Have they done any damage to any corals? I am getting mine this afternoon. It is amazing how quickly the Aiptasia exploded. I kalked 3 of them 2 weeks ago and now there are over 100 in my DT.

If I put a rock with 30 or more majanos in the tank there all gone that day.
The new one in the sump I just got and is much smaller so I'll have to wait and see if it is as voracious. I've never seen the one in the display tank do anything to my corals. Even my zoos which I don't have many of anyway. But I did have some green and brown palys and those it nips at. I wouldn't keep anything with tentacles like Dendros in there with it. But I keep itwell fed and it loves Mysis. I'll try to trap itone day to move him to the sump. I got to say even though its not the prettiest fish it really has personality. It's interested in me as much as I am in it.
