Where do you guys buy your bulkheads at? I am looking for (1) 1.5" and (2) 3/4" bulkheads. Lowes/menards/plumb supply all looked at me like i was smoking coralline algea.

oh, and to the guy who was looking for large gate valves not to long ago, none of the above stores had anything in plastic, only brass gate valves and plastic ball valves.

I might have some for you, actaully they are the gnomes, he was gonna do a closed loop but decided not too. I ordered his bh's for him so he might wanna sell them. Ill call him and find if he want to sell them or not.

there is a place north of des moines in granger that sells them if you are heading this way ..... I am sure someone will post the name - I could tell you how to drive there but I don't remember street names or anything

I will try Orscheln's. Sprayer parts...like paint, or fertalizer?

If anyone is coming from DM to the meeting tomorrow and could pick them up for me i will get them the cash they need, and maybe a frag depending on your setup (i have softies).

One detail you will need to know, sch 40 or sch 80. Sch 80 is larger and needs a larger hole.

You'll likely need to go online to get sch40 bulkheads. All local dealers will have sch80. The only sch40's you'll find local will be at Ia Pet & Seascapes and you'll pay for those.

I'd go to marinedepot.com.

Damn :( I was really hoping to get this going this weekend. marinedepot.com here i come

Thanks for the help.

I could try Ia Pet for you if you want, but you'll pay. They were much more expensive when I looked.

Guess i do have another question for you now. marinedepot.com doesnt carry a 1.5" bulkhead in slip. do you think using a 1.5"x1" reducer on each end of the bulk head cause to much flow problems? Or should i keep looking elsewhere? vividaquariums only has threaded bulkheads, aquariumpros is no-go. even www.savko.com is shutting me down. diyreef has a FxS, what ever that means. I have also emailed a few guys off ebay asking for a custom auction.

marinedepot.com does sell a threaded/slip 1.5. That should get you slip on the outside of the tank where you need it and treaded on the inside where it doesn't matter. I assume you are plumbing an overflow.

I wasnt sure which side would be threaded or slip so i was just playing it safe. If the thread is on the inside it wouldnt be a huge deal i guess.

I am building a surge tank and need the bulkheads for the surge output, overflow tube and pump. The whole project is going to set me back $30 so i figured why not give it a try. can never have to much flow.

I have a surge. I can tell you that I was disapointed with my output on a 1.5" line. Only like 1100 gph from the surge. Some of that is because I have a remote tank, long distance surge. I wish I ran a 2" line.

I just got them all, thanks for the help! I will post some pics once i get the surge running.

How high up was the surge tank compared to your display? Was it running lateral long distances?

I have my tank above the display by about 16", straight down into the tank with a 45* street.
