After kindly eradicating my asterina population, I need to continue to feed my Harlequin shrimp. PM for any inquiries.

Most petco sells them, you could even go to those luckygoldfish in SJ or 6th ave and get those starfish cheap... just freeze them and feed the legs or you could keep them in the sump.

Luckygoldfish in SJ... and there's another place in SF called 6th ave fish... these 2 place aren't really know for the best livestock but if you are just looking for food for the Harq's then these places should suffice....

I thought what people did was have a starfish refugium of some sort, then chopped off a piece of a leg to feed the shrimp.

some people do that.. good with chocolate chips but not with sandsifting stars though... as they'll decimate your livesand fauna

I'm gonna try frozen starfish. I've read about this one RC before. I'll pick up a chocolate today.

I've been seeing that a lot lately... figure if they don't finish it, you won't feel bad about throwing away only a small chunk compared to a big/whole piece of star.. plus freezing lets you keep there food longer...

Question: If they take frozen tropical starfish, why not temperate? The pacific ocean is crawling with these things. Bet you could pry a dozen off the rocks in HMB jetty without even really looking. And save you a bit of money, too.

I dunno man, same thing goes with using ocean water close.... too much pollution... that is why most people get water thats collected MILES from the beaches... but hey go figure... use it and give everyone results...

Well, I don't have anything that eats echinoderms (at least not exclusively) so I won't try it out. Then again I used to have a porcupine puffer that I fed sand crabs and leftover grass shrimp to, with no ill effects. I figure a wild caught star is a wild caught star. I bet indonesia's got pollution issues too.

I think It just depends how far of the coast its caught...Like monterey and stienhart pumps their water miles off the coast through sand pipes...
