how much for the 55 do you go to the meets? of course john dawg would be first because this is his thread

A caveat about the blue barrels if they are used.... It can take months or longer for the sweetener or food flavoring originally in the barrel to fully leach out. Also every one of them I've had, after several years, developed a weak vertical seam that began to leak. Still good for storing garden hoses, but you only need one for that. I have had better success with the Rubbermaid livestock tanks from a farm supply store.

Craigs list normally has for $15 to $20

Also find a place that sells Farm equipment and they will have the storage tanks with a threaded bulkhead already installed. They will also have a 6" opening on top so it is easy to put a powerhead inside

Hi John,

A place called PPE(PLastic Process Equipment) in Macedonia sells them. They have both the blue & semi clear new for around $50-60 range. Give them a call & ask for Brian Bowers, tell them Dave Burger sent you.

PPE phone 216-367-7000

John I might be able to get an opaque white one. I don't know if it would be usable or not. It will hold water I just don't know if it can be cleaned and used or if it would leech and have dangerous side effects. They originally had caustic soda in them. If everyone thinks it would be fine to use I can see If I can get one for you free to cheap, i still owe you for the heater. Let me know and I'll ask my neighbor who gets used barrels all the time.

Caustic soda, a little like Kalkwasser. Just stronger.
So, if rinsed out (alot) it would be ok?
