WTMRAC “Brown Bag Frag Swap” and March club meeting!!

Where and When: Saturday March 21st 3:15 to 5:45
Cordova Branch Library
8457 Trinity Rd.
Cordova Tn. 38018
(Just east of Germatown rd and Trinity)

What is a Brown bag frag swap? This is a swap designed to allow “everyone in the club” to bring some of there “cuttings” “cast offs” and “prized” coral frags to actually swap with as little preparation and planning as possible.

How does it work: Any Club Member (New members are welcome to join at the meeting and participate) that has some frags they want to trade is welcome to bring it to the club meeting to be held Saturday March 21st starting a 3:15 pm. There will be tables that everyone will “share” to display the frags however aquarium set ups and displays will not be allowed, so please do not ask!!!

Everyone is encouraged to bring several frags in double bagged clear plastic bags or zip-loc type bags or other “small” clear containers for each frag. Specimen bottles and Clear Plastic carry out containers are good for this. You can bring a photo of the actual frag or a representative photo in order to show what it is you have to swap.

We encourage everyone to post photos of there available frags on this thread along with the wish list of what you are looking for to swap or how many nickels that you want in lieu of a trade.

Equipment trades are also welcome however we do ask that no large items are brought into the room, photos are encouraged.

The swap will begin at 3:30 and will be set up on tables to one side of the meeting room.
Drinks will be provided and we ask that some volunteer to bring some snacks.

A club meeting will be held starting at 4:30 with the following agenda:

Welcome and introductions by Dave (snakemanvet) club president.
Discussion of the following Agenda items:
• Club website!
• Discussion on planning for upcoming meetings.
• Discussion and planning for Fall Frag Swap.
• Discussion of “Reefs in Schools” program and challenge!!!

Program: Current trends in “Carbon dosing of the Reef Aquarium”

This will be a slide presentation showing examples of results from some different dosing methods, as well as hand outs on different commercial and DIY methods for “Carbon dosing” followed by a panel discussion and Q and A with several club members that have been using different methods.

Will cover the following:
What is Carbon Dosing and why consider it in your system?
Different Commercial methods:
• Zeovit system
• Prodibio
• Brightwells
• Others
Different DIY methods:
• Sugar
• Vodka
• Ethanol
• Vitamin C.

As soon as the program is over people are asked to complete any additional swap transactions and assist in getting the room cleaned up and exited by 5:45pm as the Library closes promptly at 6pm.

Well, well, well, I told ya'll that you were gonna get tired of seeing me. This works well for me because I currently have over 40 frags and colonies on my sand bed. Do i need to get my friends to join before the swap? Also I know off the top of my head I am bringing ...

1" x !.5" yellow scroll coral
App. 2.5" 2 headed electric green center candy canes
1-1.5"x 1.5" favia
Lots of zoas
Also montis in large medium and small

Tell your frienns to come along. They can always join at the swap if they would like to. Or can go to the club website and go to the link to join if "anyone wants to" We encourage everyone to participate"

Post some photos of what you have to swap and what you are looking for yourself in trade or $$. Look forward to seeing you and all the other new folks it appears will be there.

I am going to _TRY_ to make it to this one, but it all depends on work. Working bartender on the weekends in a college town means fridays and saturdays tend to be the busy, booming days.

I was going to pay club dues up front and in person(seems more personal that way) but in case I cannot make it to this trip, can someone send me the paypal email addy in which to send dues?

We really welcome any new members. You cn join at the meeting if you are where you can make it or contact our treasurer
from this link http://wtmrac.org/memberships.html and Cathy can get you the information.

I have a Kenya tree coral frags and a frag of Root beer Palys for any new member that joins ( and has a tank up and running and wants them).

I had tried that email address, but midsouth.rr.com is no more, thanks to comcast. Is there an updated email?

It looks like times have really changed. This will be my first time "brown bagging" a library. It should spice things up a bit. This will fit in well with carbon dosing.

The guy that is doing sheetrock work for us will need to work on the house Saturday to finish up, so I will not be able to make the meeting. I will, however, be at New Horizons in Memphis Thursday and Friday if anyone wants to pick up stars. I can stop close to you, Bill and drop off your red macro on my way home.

Well lets see what people have out there that they will "Brown Bag" and what they might be looking for to swap.

I have a few Palys and Zoas in several different Green combos, Some Pink Zoas with blue mouths, and a couple of nice Green finger leather frags I can bring (will try and post some pics in the next day or so camera is "out on Spring break" but I have a new one that is supposed to be here tomorrow Yeah!!)

I would really like to swap or pick up some other small frags of any zoas I do not have and specifically any Zoas or Palys or Mushrooms in Blue or Red.
