WTS Millipore RO/DI System

I don't know if anyone would have any use for this. Might be ALOT of overkill, for the standard reefer.

Anyhow.

I have for sale a Millipore Direct-Q 5 RO/DI unit.

It is about a year and a half old, in pristine condition. The carbon cartridge could be replacedm but could easily get another 6-12 months on it also.

Here is a link to item.

I got it through work. These items list at about $8K, but sell to users through distribution for about $5K.

Obviously, I am not trying to get that much out of it, but would like to get a decent price.

It is produces laboratory grade ultrapure water, and everything comes with it, the resevoir, pressure gauge, etc....

Let me know if there is any interest.

Thanks

Some more info:

As far as asking price, I don't really know. Whatever I can get for it, but bear in mind...the amount has to outwiegh the hassle of me humping water from the store/work back and forth to my car for the next umpteen years, as I could always use it at home, and...I am looking to start another 40G Breeder set up, so the funds woudl be towards that.

Some other additional info on practicality for reefers:

I managed to come up with a complete bottle of the chlorine tabs for the unit (preserves the resin and carbon) which should be good for several years, as well as large pile of the micron filters for the unit. The micron filters are not necessary, but do a final polish (basically a bacterial filter - UV sterilizer alternative). I also believe I can procur a new set of filters (carbon and resin - salesman owes me one).

So, give it a week or so, and I can get the complete like new ready to go set-up.

If anyone is interested for work purposes the unit CANNOT be tapped into and existing RO/DI unit, must work off of tap water.

Well, it could but...but it would sound an audible alarm which is annoying.

The unit dispenses about 1 litre per minute. But only makes .5 litre per minute. Removing the 22um micron filter increases flow rate, but of course would also increase bacterial possibilities. (Not really to large an issue with most tap waters)

It comes with a 10 litre (enclosed) resevoir. Could easily be plumbed to a larger reservoir.

It is 120V/60Hz.

Someone asked about the waste water to product ratio. I honestly could not tell you. I had it plumbed directly to the drain and never paid attention. I do know that it is designed to recirculate approximately 60% of its own waste back to the unit, thus reducing the amount of waste and perserving the life of the cartridges.

Hope the info helps.

Oh, it is also fully programmable to dispense between .25 and 65 litres.

So, you can walk away and not have to worry about an overflow.

;)

Well, at this point any offers are being considered.

I don't expect to get even close to its depreciated retail value.

It's one of those things that comes along once in a great while, and I figured I woudl see if anyone was willing to offer more than the value to me of installing it for my own use :-)

i might be interested depending on price. i just noticed this post so i will look into the unit later when i get home to make sure it will be somthing i can use for the long haul. I know this has been asked but what amount are you trying to get that would make the sale worthwhile to you?
