Xavier's 60 Gallon Cube Build

Yep. Another tank.

So I have the 180, but just got news that my roommate doesn't want to renew our lease in November, so we decided to just move out and find somewhere else. However, the 180 is just too big for a move to another apartment, so I am going to sell that as soon as I get this tank up.

Anyway, I hope I will be able to have a cool little reef, while still being able to have some space for reef diversity.

So far here is what I'm thinking/planning
60g cube 24x24x24
20g high sump
Euro-reef r135 skimmer
Mag 9.5 return pump
150 watt heater

I got all the plumbing parts I need for the build. With adequate planning, I think I have thought of everything, but you know how that goes. I will have to go to the store 6 different times for 6 different things I forgot haha. Gotta love the hobby.

I also got the back painted and sanded and painted the stand with a lot of help from Vanessa (witsandwrasse)

here are some pics of the progress
How it looked when I got it

And then the work began

On the way to Lowe's.

I came close to buying that tank. Good luck with the build Xavier. Btw, you and Vanessa make a nice looking couple ;)

Yep, the dimmable! You nailed it my man! There not crammed braa, they are strategically placed ;) I have lately been trying to keep some sticks alive to bring some cool color and life to the middle and top of the tank

This would be a cool project Xavier.

Btw......No wonder she doesn't get her project done, she's busy for this project HAHA

Thanks Jeremy! Hope all is well!

Update: I got the plumbing wrong! Returns were 1" instead of 3/4" like I thought. Turns out I had looked at a piece of equipment that was past the reducer so I bought everything for the returns but it was just a little off

I also decided to get a new, thicker piece of conduit pipe for the light bar, which will hopefully look a little slicker than the previous one that was made up of 5 parts. So I got that bent, and then cut it to size, and I think it looks pretty good. Just have to drill it and paint it now.

I have been really sick the last couple days, but today I was able to manage the plumbing at least. Now that the plumbing is done, I just need to go get fresh water and fill the tank up. I plan on mixing the salt in the tank, and then slowly adding sand/rock/coral/fish.

I also still need to get the light bar drilled and painted.
So much to do.

looks good! Only thing i'd do differently is ditch the two support blocks in the back on run 2X4s or at least 2X2s all the way down. It'll make the stand stonger all around.
